MBPN 22nd Annual Conference, May 5-6, 2017

The MBPN will hold their 22nd Annual Conference at Niko’s Landing Conference Center in Comstock, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.  This years’ conference will host a special barn tour on the grounds of the Gilmore Car Museum.  A special movie presentation of “The Barn Raisers” by Fourth Wall Films will be shown Friday evening following dinner.  Saturday will be filled with events and speakers, our silent auction and more.  A highlight of our conference is the presentation of the annual Barn of the Year Awards following lunch on Saturday.  New this year is our annual membership meeting to be held on Saturday morning beginning at 9:00a.m.

This a great opportunity to network with barn and farmstead preservationists throughout Michigan.  The cost of the conference is detailed below.  Please register early.  For those who cannot attend please consider a donation to help support the organization and add value to your membership.  This is also a great value for non-members.  Your registration includes a one year membership to MBPN.

Niko’s Landing Banquet Center is a premier facility located on the banks of the Kalamazoo River just minutes from downtown Kalamazoo.  A number of nearby hotels can provide accommodations for those registering for Friday and Saturday.

The Gilmore Car Museum is located on M43 just a few miles north east from Kalamazoo.  The museum hosts a number of historic buildings, including a few wonderful old barns.  Your visit here with MBPN will be sure to enrich your desire to return to see all that this wonderful facility has to offer.

“The Barn Raisers” movie, produced by Fourth Wall Films, is a story of barns and the people who built them.  Production began in 2014 and was slated for release in 2015.  The film debuted nationally in Iowa in 2017.  The film includes stories from the midwest, including Iowa, Kansas, Ohio, Wisconsin and Michigan.

Barn Tour

The barn tour will take place around the Kalamazoo area.  We will visit the Barn Theater, Tillers International barns, the barns at the Gilmore Car Museum, the Lockshore and the Wilbur barns.  Lunch will be served at Tillers.
